Today, we welcome those two laureates who have been with us for each HLF since the first one in 2013: 💥 The 1982 Nevanlinna Prize and 1986 ACM A.M. Turing Award recipient, Robert Endre Tarjan. 💥 The 2004 ACM A.M. Turing Award recipient, Vinton Gray Cerf. We are truly honored to have them as our guests again! #HLF25 #HLForum #Heidelberg
About us
In 2013, the co-founder of SAP, Klaus Tschira, established the nonprofit Heidelberg Laureate Forum Foundation (HLFF) with the goal of fostering mathematics and computer science. The HLFF organizes the annual Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF), a networking conference where 200 outstanding young researchers in mathematics and computer science interact with the recipients of the most renowned prizes in the fields. Another primary focus of the Foundation is turning the public’s attention toward mathematics and computer science, not only to awaken but to strengthen their interest through events and exhibitions held in their Mathematics Informatics Station (MAINS). The HLFF is funded by the German foundation Klaus Tschira Stiftung (KTS), which supports the natural sciences, mathematics and computer science, while striving to increase their appreciation. Education, research and science communication are the foundation’s three primary areas of focus. https://www.hlf-foundation.org/imprint.html https://www.hlf-foundation.org/privacy-policy.html

Daily Recap for Thursday, 28 August: Today, we had a total of seven Lectures, covering topics for everyone: instrumental variables methods, election methods, and game-theoretic models of human evolution were just a few examples. But that’s not all! The Young Scientists once again had the opportunity to present their work in front of an interested audience, including several Laureates. A Panel Discussion explored the topic of policy frameworks for #climateaction and international cooperation. We concluded the day with the Heidelberg Lecture, held by Yael Tauman Kalai. 💡 Ever heard of the Collatz conjecture? Imagine picking any number, then applying a simple rule and always ending up in the same loop. That’s the mystery of the Collatz Conjecture. 🤫 But a general proof remains elusive.
